Expo 2005 to give water to waiters, but keep PET ban

The Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition will provide drinking water from Saturday to visitors waiting in lines to enter the exposition site, according to officials. There will be 10 water tanks at the North Gate, eight at the West Gate, four at the East Gate in the Nagekute Area and two at the Seto Gate in the Seto Area with paper cups. Water also will be available in corporate pavilion zones and at the Expo Plaza on July 1.

“Kiccoro ( Forest Child )” - The Forest Child has only just been born. Jumping around everywhere, he's (she's) full of energy! The Forest Child wants to see and do everything! He's (she's) looking forward to making lots of friends at the Expo.
“Morizo ( Forest Grand Father )” - The Forest Grandfather has been living in the forest since long ago. He's an easy-going and kind old man, he has seen many things and knows everything, but he hasn't lost his curiosity. Hearing about the Expo, he's enthusiastic about lending a hand.

Pokemon Park is a side attraction of the Banpaku, separate admission.
the new adventures of mapley and afuchan for May 2, 2005, documents their day at Pokemon Park. "The fees were too expensive, so we didn't go on any rides. They were meant for the kids, anyway. We spent time browsing through the Pokemon Shop for souvenirs and bought the same blue Pokemon t-shirt each. We wanted to meet real life Pokemons but there were none. *sigh* "

Nagano - Banpaku Transit

Method 1: By Subway and Linimo
Approx. 50 minutes, 630 Yen
1) Take the Higashiyama Subway Line from central Nagoya to Fujigaoka (30 minutes, 290 Yen, frequent departures).
2) From Fujigaoka take the Linimo and get off at Banpaku Kaijo Station just in front of the North Gate of the Nagakute Expo Site (15 minutes, 340 Yen, frequent departures).
The Linimo is Japan's first maglev train. It started regular operation only a few days before the expo opening in March 2005. This is a very popular way to access the expo, and in the morning around opening time, you should expect waiting times at Fujigaoka Station.

PaPeRo

PaPeRo is NEC's "personal robot" named after an acronym of "Partner-type Personal Robot." It is a prototype that communicates with human beings as one of the family members at home. Research with PaPeRo has focused on the human-robot interactions in the real environment encountered at home.
Since 1997, NEC Multimedia Research Laboratories have been conducting research on "Personal Robots" and developed the first prototype "R100" in July 1997 and its descendant "PaPeRo" in January 2001.
