Eye-Fi

eye-film.jpgEye-Fi (or Eye-Film), is a 1 GB memory chip merged with an 802.11g 54 mpbs wi-fi card in the SD format. The card is less for surfing the internet than providing an alternative way to connect a digital camera to a photo kiosk, a professional lab, or a local PC.

The current product (announced, not yet available) is designed to plug and play in certified cameras. No upgrades to the camera are necessary.

The card is not designed to work with a PDA or a SmartPhone, but as their FAQ states: PDA users: we hear your feedback. Our primary focus is on the digital camera, but we are taking the PDA opportunity very seriously
