Asimo Goes to Work
On Tuesday, December 13th, Honda presented the latest incarnation of Asimo [*], the walking, now working robot.
This version can walk twice as fast as it's predecessors, has the agility to serve tea from a push cart (Western board room style, not Japanese chado style), speaks well enough to work as a receptionist (which languages?), and can recognize people (with the help of RFID technology?). Annual salary : about $170,000. (Y 200,000?).
Asimo stands 130 cm tall, weighs in at 54 kilogramms, and walks at a nice 6 km/hour.
Asimo's website (asimo.honda.com) contains a set of six, downloadable videos at http://asimo.honda.com/inside_asimo_movies.asp, as well as brochures, technical manuals, etc.

[*] To add to the fun, the word "ashimo" is apparently a play both on the name "Isaac Asimov" and the Japanese word "ashimoto" - gait, step, pace.
